Ann PHILLIPS

1.  Ann was baptized in the Welsh Tract Baptist Church 3 Sep 1737 was dismissed to go to Pee Dee in South Carolina by a letter March 11, 1738.

2.  It is not proven that her maiden name was Phillips, as James, is a strong possiblity...The John Connections p. 224


Griffith JONES

1.  Parentage not proven....see The Johns Connections, p. 219

2.  Later chuch records show his name as Griffith Johns as was his children.  p. 226

3.  WILL OF GRIFFITH JOHN

In the name of God amen.  I Griffith John of South Carolina being very weak but in perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testiment that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my sooul unto the hands of almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general ressurection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life.  I give an devise and dispose of the same in following manner and form.

First, I give and bequeath to Margry my well beloved wife all my lands and negroes stock and household goods of all sorts until her death.  Then I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Enuch John 100 acres of land being the upper tract only taking out the swamp field and foley's field also my negro fellow Robin.

Also I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Jonathan John 100 acres of land being the lower tract and Swamp field and Foley's field.

I do make and ordain [E]nuch John and Jonathan John my hole and sole executors of this my last Will and Testament.

Also I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Sarah John my negro wench Rose.

Also I give and bequeath to my well beloved dauther Rachel John my negro girl named Lid.

Also I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Thomas John my negro girl named Jud.

Also I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Jesey John my negro boy named Jack.

Also I give and bequath to my well beloved daughter Abeygirl John my negro girl named Pot.

Also after my wife's death all the rest of my estate not mentioned stocks and househjold goods of all sorts to be equally divided amoungst my children and I do utterly disannjul revoke and disalow of all and every other testaments, wills, legacies, bequests and Executors by me in any ways before named will and bequeathed ratyfing and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have herunto set my hand and seal this 7th day of October 1763.

Signed, sealed, pubvlished, pronounced and declared by the said Griffith John as h8is las Will and Testament in the presence of Us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereto Subscribed our names.

Enoch JONES

1.  Enoch was in the South Carolina Militia in 1759 and 1760.  He was a Private and was shown in the Muster Rolls of Colonel George Gabriel Powell's Battalion of South Carolia in the 1759 Cherokee Expedition, and was shown on the Muster Roll of Captain Philip Pledgers Company, Jan. 15, 1760.   (Colonial Soldier of the South, 1732-1774, pp. 894, 921


William JONES

1.  He was a Sargent in the South Carolina Militia in 1760 from Nov 3 to Dec 31, as shown in the records of South Carolina Militia.  He was on the Muster Foll of Captain John Hitchcock's Company, Jan. 15, 1760.  He was also listed on the Muster Rolls of Colonel Geoge Gabriel Powell's Battalion of South Carolina Militia in the 1759 Cherokee Expedition.

2.  Occupation:  Shoe maker.


Jonathan JONES

1.  Jonathan & Mary probably had several children.

2.  Jonathan of Marlborough County was a planter.


Elijah JONES

1.  Shown in Chefraws District, South Carolina in 1790 Census:   one male under 16, two females.


Asal JONES

1.  Served in the Revolutionary War as a Private in Benton's Regiment in 1782 (Gregg History).

2.  Shown in 1790 South Carolina Census with 2 females and 3 males under 16.


Jesse JONES "Sr"

1.  The Johns Connections reports that Jesse & Sarah had at least seven children....p. 231

2.  He was a Private in Benton's South Carolina Regiment in 1783, during the Revolutionany War.

3.  Gregg History... in 1802 Deed he listed slaves beginning with negro man Jack and followed by Jen, Jude, Rose and Deannah.  They were given to William John, son of Jesse John, by Jesse's bother Thomas John on 29 Aug 1775.  This
Deed conveyed them back to Thomas Joh.  (Book F, p.315, Marlboro County)

4.  Jesse left will dated 1 Aug 1803:  left one shilling each to sons William and Henry:  left 275 acres of land and other property to wife Sarah...at her death to go to "my five younger children".


John JONES

1.  William & Agnes sepaated and a settlement was made 5 Oct 1814.


Thomas JONES "Sr"

1.  Thomas along with Asal and Jesse John was listed as a Private in Benton's Regiment that fought in the Revolutionary War.

2.  He was listed in the 1790 South Carolina Census, Cheraw District, with four females.


Elizabeth Brown POUNCEY

1.  After Thomas Jones died Elizabeth married Peter Monroe and moved to Florida.

Thomas JONES "Jr"

1.  In 1824-1825 he went to Geogia, then on to Florida.  He lived near Tallahassee, Leon, Florida.

2.  It is reported that he was in Indian wars and to have had a horse shot from under him.
