Tanya Lynn Smith HAYES

1.  Tanya got a $60.00 "tongue ring" in November 1997...

2.  She took a freefall with her skydiving instructor from 12,000' on Valentine's day as a gift from her boyfriend.

3.  Tanya graduated from Texas Tech University on December 16, 200l, receiving a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Journalism...and worked for Channell 28 KAMC/KLBK in Lubbock as a producer.

4.  On April 13, 2002, the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters presented Tanya Hayes an award.  She is the daughter of Jimmy and Helen Hayes of Lovington.  Tanya was the Five and Ten o'clock producer for KAMC, ABC 28 News in Lubbock, Texas.  The TAPB has named her l0 o'clock newscast the best in the state of Texas, Division 3.  The association's judges made their choice from more than 25 stations including Lubbock, Abilene, Beaumont-Port Arthur, Midland-Odessa, Laredo, San Angelo, and Wichita Falls.  This is the third year in a row the TAPB named KAMC the best in Texas.
     The award ceremony included a three-course meal at the Raddison of San Antonio, followed by a speech from ABC White House Correspondent Ann Compton who spoke of her experience on September 11th as one of only two  reporters allowed to accompany President Bush.  Tanya is pictured at center with TAPB chairman, Paul Brown, left, who prerseented her with a plaque, and Ann Compton.

5.  Tanya moved to Houston in 2003 and is Producer for NBC NEWS.

6.  She visited Ireland on St. Patrick's Day 2004.

7.  She was at the annual Hayes Reunion in Lovington, New Mexico June 24th , 25th , & 26th 2005, and was sporting a couple of  tatoos....one was a Shamrock most likely inspired as a result of her Irish visit.
