Notley MADDOX "Sr"

1.  Notley, Sr. used the spelling of Maddocke.

2.  Another source used the name William Notely Maddocke.

3.  Vicki Shulman forwarded the following information to this writer 17 Aug 2009:  Cemeteries in Shelby County, Kentucky published by the Shelby County Historical Society, Inc. 1979 p. 90-91.  Maddox Cemetery Location:  From Cropper, Kentucy, travel East on KY 43 for .6 miles.  Turn left on Shipman-Magruder road and drive Northeast .95 mile.  Turn left into the farm now owned by Martha O'Nan.  Follow the farm road Northwest .35 mile and cross Dutch Fort Creek.  The cemetery is located in a grove of trees 1,100' West of this point.   Condition:  This family cemetery is surrounded by a well-maintained fieldstone fence measuring 60' x 75'.   The markers are in good condition and the ground is clear of underbrush.  In additon to the stone listed, the survy located seven graves marked by fieldstone inside the walls and 12 graves marked by fieldstones outside and East of the wall.  This survey was made on May 28, 1978.,

4.  Inscription on tomb:   Notley Maddox, born Apr 13, 1731/died Mar 11,1820.  Not dead, but sleep  -- FM initialed NM

5.  Possibly died at Pleasureville, Shelby, Kentucky

6.  Notely & Susannah were cousins.
