Selected Families and Individuals


Frank Smith HUMMEL

1.  Education:  Graduate of the University of Utah in Electrical Engineering.

2.  Military:  He was commissioned in the U. S. Army Reserve in June 1926 and joined the Utah National Guard in 1929.  He served as operations and training officer of the 40th Infantry Division until his discharge in 1946.  During World War II he won the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit.  On September 12, 1946 he returned to the Utah National Guard XI Corps Artillery as executive officer.  He was promoted to Brigadier General on April 10, 1956, a position he held until his retirement in April 1961.

3.  At the time of his death he was vice president and general manager of National Auto Parts Association and the Mendenhall Auto Parts Company.

Alice Pocahontas CHRISTENSEN

1.  Education:  Received her degree from the University of Uath in 1928 in Mathematics.

Cade Barsdale AUSTIN

1.  Cade retired from the Air Force with thirty years service.

Anela Florence HUMMEL

1.  Education:  Attended the University of Utah
                        Graduated from McCune School of Music and Art

2.  Occupation:  Piano Teacher.

3.  The family lived in Belleville, Illinois.

Charles Clyde Taylor BROMLEY "Sr"

1.  Education:  Attended the University of Utah

Edith Naomi HUMMEL

1.  Education:  Attended the University of Uath

2.  Edith wrote:  "We have both been active in church and civic affairs.  Clyde is Chemical Dispatcher for General Electric Company and is an active member of the Sons of American Revolution.  I have served in all auxilary organizations of the church and as president of our Local Daughters of Pioneers Camp and as Regent of our local Columbia River Chapter D.A.R.  I prize most of all the Honorary Golden Gleaner Award that was presented to me in September 1955.

    Clyde and I were co-chairmen of Spiritual Resources Committee for the State for the White House Conference of Youth that was held in Washington D. C. last March (1961)."


1.  Education:  Gershon held a Ph.D in Chemistry.

2.  He was killed in a plane crash in New York February 1959.

Claire Elaine HUMMEL

1.  Education:  Received her B.S. degree from the University of Uath and Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 1952.  She was on the research staff of Columbia University, College of Physicans until her husband's death.   Then she was in the Research Department of the University of Utah Medical School.

Robert Reynolds DENNIS

1.  Robert was a member of the U. S. Embasy station at New Delhi, India.

Barbara Joyce HUMMEL

1.  Education:  Received B.S. degree on the University of Utah and a M.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin in Dietetics and Scientific Journalism.

2.  She was on the editorial board of the magazine published by the American Women's Club.
