William HOLLINGSWORTH

1.  On 20 Mar 1862, William was recruited to Civil War Service.

2.  William was killed 17 Sep 1862 in Civil War Battle of Antietam, near the town of Sharpsburg, Washington, Maryland.  

3.  At the time of his death he was a Private of Capt. Gaston's Company "H", First Regimeent, Texas Volunteers, Commanded by Col. A. T. Rainey in the service of the Confederate States and was earning $11 per month.

5.  In 1862 he was buried in a mass grave on edge of a cornfield until 1870 then moved as an unknown soldier and buried in the Washington Confederate Cemetery in Hagerstown, Maryland.


Joseph Coleman HOLLINGSWORTH

1.   Other sources lists date of birth as 1804 or 1805, but, seeing the date of birth for his first wife Polly was 1815 I'll go with 14 Jan 1812.

2.  Also his place of birth was given as Anson County, North Carolina, [Now Union, South Carolina], but, since the family moved in 1805 to Knox County, I will go that way.

3.  Joseph lived in Carroll Parish, Louisiana, between 1850 - 1860.

4.  He also lived in Washington County, Mississippi at one time.
