Lucretia Basheba STANLEY

1.  In Sep 1857 Basheba Chairs asks to be appointed administrator of the estate of John F. Chairs who had died Dec. 25, 1852.  It states there was not enough estate at the time of his death, but now has received a donation claim of 640 acres for his service at the Battle of San Jacinto and an Augmentation Certificate for 2/3 of a league (approx. 2900 acres) and 1 labor (177 acres).   She asks for an order of sale of the land so she can buy a homestead, as she was not left a homestead when her husband died--leaving her with  5 childen.  The land was appraised at 40 cents per acre.  It is assumed it was granted, but, not known for sure.  (Source)  from Vera Johnson to Kay.
