William Crockett Martin ELLIOTT

1.  William Elliott married Amanda Cochran in Cooke County, Texas.  He operatged the Elliott Ferry on the Texas side of the Red River until 1875.

2.  He was killed (stabbed) on 14 May 1875 by someone over a debt owing him for the use of the ferry.  The murderer put his body under a tarp in the wagon and headed the horses to his home..


Amanda Susan "Manda" COCHRAN

1.  Ancestry.com Houck Family Tree gives name as Amanda Cockrum and father's name as Preston Cockrum.

2.  Another source gives name as Amanda C. Cockran.


Charles William "Charley" JONES

1.  Mary McGuffi reports a memory of her Grandfather, Charlie when she would sit in his lap in front of the fireplace.  He dipped snuff and he would spit in the fire and she remembers the sound it made.

Nora Augusta MARTIN

1.  The New Family Search gives name as Nora Martin Writtenberry, b. 1876, which this writer believes is in error since her father was George F. Martin.  Could she have been married before to a Mr. Writtenberry?

2.  Nora & her sister Maude were left at Buckner Oprhanage in Dallas by their father after their mother died at an early age.
