Samuel Mills COOK

Elizabeth SMITH

1.  Elizabeth & Samuel did not have any children


Rev. Joel HAYES "II"

1.  Education:  Yale University in 1773

2.  Congregational Pastor at South Hadley, Massachusetts for forty-five years, but while the people were assembling, and he was preparing to leave his house, was struck down with paralysis and probably died that same day.

3.  It was said the Joel was one of the "Boston Tea Party" of 1773, but for this we find no other authority than tradition.  [He was a student at Yale at that time]  Probably was never in Boston.  [Source:  his grandson, Olier B. Hayes of Dalton, March 3, 1884.


Mary BLISS

1.  It is said that Joel first saw his wife, Mary Bliss, in the congregation at Wilbraham, while exchanging with the minister there, and was much struck with her appearance.  They undoubtedly married at Wilbraham.


Harriett Louisa HAYES

1.  Unmarried...and was teaching at St. Albans, Vermont at the time of her death.


Oliver Bliss HAYES "Sr"

1.  Education:  Received his education in New England schools, but removed early to Baltimore, Maryland, and thence, in 1808, to Nashville, Tennessee.  Here he began the practice of law and through in competition with many who afterwards attaind high distinction in legal and political life, he soon rose to the head of his profession, and was for many years retained as counsel in nearly all important cases throughout middle Tennessee.

2.  In mature age, and with a large estate, he retired from the profession of the law, and gave his remaining years, with greeat albility and faithfulness, to the work of the ministry, in the New School Presbyterian Church;  tanking no pastoral charge.


Sarah Clements HIGHTOWER

1.  Mrs. Hayes was noted for personal beauty, grace of manner, and sweetness of disposition:  she was never forgetful of the poor, and made her home a paradise.


Richard Hightower HAYES

1.  Harvard Law School

2.  Successful Lawyer in Columbia, Tennessee.

3.  Unmarried
