Coleman Richard JONES

1.  One wintry evening just before Christmas during the Great Depression, Coleman came through the door of his and Cloda's simple home with a treat for their children.  He gathered the four oldest around him at the worn wooden table in the kitchen and placed the treat in front of him.  It was a single huge shiny Red Delicious apple.  Coleman pulled out his pocket knife and cut the apple into forths--one piece for each child.  As the children savored the juicy, delicious treat Coleman cried because he had only been able to afford one apple.  During the Depression money was dear and the Christmas apple had cost five cents.
