James "Jim" JONES

1.  In 1918 Jim bought a 1912 Model T car that had no body.  Orville gave Jim some lumber and tin that Jim used to build a body and painted it red.  Orville was teaching Jim (age 13) to drive and as they approached Jerusalem from the South, Jim asked Orville how to stop the car.  Orville quickly replied, "just run it into the store building and it will stop".  Jim did as Orville said, and everything was knocked from the store wall but the car stopped.   The store was owned by Cos McCoy.  Jim traded the car to Orville for a mule.  Orville later traded the car to Edgar Bruton for 40 acres of land.

2.  Jim farmed with his brothers, Orville and Hobart at Jerusalem.

3.  Jim was too young for service in World War I but forged his mother's name and entered the the US Navy in 1923, serving until 1927.  He was aboard the U. S. S. California that sailed around the world.  The trip took 8-9 months.  Jim served in World War II as a combat air crewman in 1943-1946.

4.  Jim & Velma lived in Springdale, Arkansas, 1986...

5.  They had 5 grandchildren...


Velma Jane HUTCHINSON

William "Bill" B. BARRY

1.  William B. Barry, M.D. and Ethel were members of the Civil War Round Table of Kansas City, The Weserners - Kansas City Posse;  Th eKansas Cdity Branch English Speaking Union;  The Native Sons of Kansis City;  The Creek Club and the Kansas City Club.


Ethel Louise SPEARS

1.  Ethel lives in Kansas City, Missouri...

2.  She is Dean of Community College System, and she holds BS, MS, & Phd Degrees...

3.  She is an author:  Her first book is a work of fiction, taking place in the Arkansas Ozarks, where she was born , and is based on the long-hidden memoirs of her grandfather, a fiercely independent Arkansas pioneer, Captain Pleasant Houston Spears, who fought on the Union side against his own brothers.  It is the story of a hard headed man and his high-spirited wife, whose character is based on the authors' grandmother.   Two books were for career women:  "Cinderella Doesn't Work Her Anymore" & "Techniques School Should  Have Taught You About Working With Men and Other Women".   Her third book, "Retire to Fun and Freedom" with co-author Cavett Robert) was published in 1988 by Warner Books.


Becky HERN

1.  Becky was born to a previous marriage....her father was killed in an automobile accident.


Herbert Eugne HERN

1.  Herbert retired from the U. S. Air Force


Dale HERN

1.  Dale was 41 years of age when he died....he was to retire from the Navey in September, 2003.


Joel - Joseph MC DOUGAL

1.  The 1910 New Hope Township, Newton County, Arkansas finds Joseph at the age of 25....he has been married 4 years.  He is listeed as a farmer, owning his own place.


H. L. "Effie" MC DOUGAL

1.  The 1920, Prairie Township, Newton, ARkanss Census finds Effie at age 33...she is able to read and write...5 children living in the home.
