Notes

William Bastion CLEMONS

1.  It was reported that William was born on a farm near Yale, Illinois and died on that same farm at age 78, having never spent a single night away from home during all those years.

2.  He was a prosperous farmer, a dedicated Christian, and a born philanthropist.

3.  There were few orphan homes in their time, and although William and Minerva Clemens had seven children of their own, opened their home to every needy child who came their way.   It is said that as many as ten foster children received the comfort of their home.  A humble couple whose good deeds have lived a century beyond their own lives.
