William Lemuel HORN "Sr"

1.  William served in the Civil War and had a horse shot from under him while fighting in the same battle with his borther Joshua Horn, who being badly wounded and unable to ride, insisted he take his horse and escape, which William did.  Joshua was captured and sent to a hospital and released at the end of the war.  The old wound finally killed him.

John O'Brian BOWLIN

                                  JOHN B. BOWLIN PASSES AWAY
                                                     7 February 1922

John B. Bowlin died Tuesday Morning at his home following an illness of several years.  He was Sixty Years Old, and until the retirement from active work several years ago, had been a prominent farmer of this community.  He left two sisters, Mrs. Lillie B. Brownfield of Ft. Smith, and Mrs. Gertrude Vinsant of Van Buren.  One brother, Noble Bowlin of Van Buren, three sons, Marcus, Paul, and Othello, of Mulberry, three daughters, Mrs. Maude Campbell of Van Buren, Mrs. Lillie Lewis of Ottawa, Kansas, and Mrs. Lester Ray of Mulberry, and his wife.

John Bowlin was the younges son of the late Captain William Bowlin.

Funeral services were held at the family residence on Thursday at 10 o'clock, Rev. J. C. McCollum, officiating.  Interment was made at Fairview Cemetery, Van Buren Thursday afternoon.

A very large concouse of friends and relatives being present at the last service.


Martha "Mattie" SIMMONS

Funeral service for Mrs. Martha Bowlin, widow of John Bowlin, and a member of a widely known Crawford County family, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Vine Prairie on U. S. Highway 64 between Alma and Mulberry.

Rev. J. E. Linza and Rev. D. N. Weaver will officiate.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren.  The Ocker Funeral Home will be in charge.

Mrs. Bowlin died at 10 o'clock Monday Morning at her home in Long Bell Addition where she has lived the last two years.  She formerly lived in the Vicinity of Mulberry where her husbad, who was a farmer, died twelve years ago.  Her brother Mack Simons, died only recently.

Surving relatives are three sons, Thel, Paul, and Marcus Bowlin, all of Mulberry, three daughters, Mrs. Maude Compbell, Mrs. L. O. Ray, Mulberry, and Mrs. Lillie Lewis of the home.  As sister Mrs. Susie Peevy of Dyer also survices.

Pallbearers will be six grandsons, of Mrs. Bowlin.  They are Jewell Chitwood, Burl House, John Henry Bowlin, Hugh Bowlin William Campbell, and Carl L. Lewis.
