Merle or Myrl Milton HAYES

1.  Myrl M. Hayes was born deaf and was sent to Sulphur, Oklahoma, School for the Deaf and was well educated to sign and read lips.


Stephen Franklin TUCKER

1.  Stephen was widowed by 1880, having lost his first wife (a sister of Patrick P. Dunbar) in childbirth.

2.  He married again about 1881 to Artellia C. Pryor, a young girl that had lost both her parents.  

3.  They reared eight children, but family problems developed after the birth of their last son, Leslie, and they separated and eventually divorced.  

4.  A few years later, Steve moved back home...he living in one end of the house and Artellia living on the opposite end.  Yet, affection had to have been there because when Steve became ill, Artellia nursed him until his death.
