Matthias BRIMBERRY

1.  Info from Jerry Lee Brimberry (404) 469-4934...Page 181...*(F118) Page 182 Marion Earl Brimberry.

2.   Following his father's death in 1752 Matthias altered the spelling of his surname to conform with its Swedish pronunciation.  (Brimberry)  

3.  He and Mary were married in the Old Swede Church (Holy Trinity Church) in Willmington.  

4.  In 1766, he and Mary moved with his sister Susanna and her husband Eric Anderson to Orange County, North Carolina.

5.  In the year 1786 Mathias and family were living outside of Fort Boonesborough, on the North side of the Kentucky River.  

6.  In his father's will he was "lett out" to a trade which was wagon-making.

7.  The family later moved to Simpson County, Kentucky, where Matthias died.

8.  Brymberry - Brunberg means "brown mountain" in Swedish.  His baptism spelling was Brynberg.


Maria "Mary" ANDERSON

1.  Mary's Great Grandfather, Andreas Juriansson was Captain of the "Fogel Grip" on its second voyage to New Sweden in 1639.  

2.  She had brothers & sisters too.

3.  Her family relatives moved with her and Matthias to Orange County, now Alamance County, North Carolina in 1768.


Christiern Brimberry BRUNBERG

1.  Christian came to America about 1714.  

2.  He and Maria were married in Old Swedes Church, Willmington, New Castle County, Delaware of which he was active and prominent in the affairs of Holy Trinty Church where they worshipped regularly.

3.  His trade was wagon-making.

4.  He was instrumental in establishing a school in his home.  No doubt his interest in education was handed down through his son Sven to  his son Peter.


Lee Harrison OWEN

1.  Lee was the 1st County Clerk of Robertson County, Texas.

2.  Owensville, Texas was established in 1856, named for Lee Harrison Owen.  

3.  He moved to Palestine, Texas via a 6-week wagon trip.  Page 179 Brimberry Family F116.  Page 182

4.  Information from Marion Earl Brimberry.

5.  Jeanne Woods Owen of Morgan, Texas published an extensive history of this branch of the Brimberry family in 1983.
