3.  Memories by Polly McMinn:

I came to Locust Grove community as a young bride.  My husband, Jesse, was in the Army, so I stayed with my in-laws, John and Rebecca McMinn.  I went to the little, one room, Locust Grove Church with "Granny Becky" and her children.
We only had services once a month on the third Sunday.  Rev. Green took over, followed by Quay Corn, with many others to follow.
Everyone walked to church and we had a close fellowship with each other.  I remember Myrtle, Ethel and Harley McMinn walking across Couch Mountain to church and then eating dinner with us on the way home.
We had a Baptist Young People's Union (BYPU) that we all enjoyed.  There was quite a crowd of us!  I was baptized in a branch that was poned up over behind the church, along with Marie McMinn Gagwell & Randolph Stepp and others.
As time marches on, so does Locust Grove Church, from generations to generation.  I can't get around much anymore, but I try to support the church with prayer and offerings.  COME AND SEE ME!

5.  A Tribute to Polly McMinn by Elena Williams

Polly and Jesse had eleven beautiful children.  She always took them to church when she could.  When she couldn't go, she made sure they did.  They all participated in church with singing and playing instruments.   Each one can play at least one instrument and some even more.  She inspired them with her love for music and nature.  She encouraged their  creativeity.  She knows about every wild flower and herb that grows in the mountains.  She gets annoyed sometimes, when these aren't remembered by her children!
When Jesse died in 1966, she was left with five teenage boys to raise.  With her love and guidance, they grew up to be fine young men.  She had never had a job outside of the home at the time, so she went to Blue Ridge College.  There she received her high school diploma and a CNA degree.  Shortly after, she went to work to provide for her children.  She even learned to drive!  We all are so proud of her.
Although she has had hardships and heartaches, her faith in God keeps her going.  Her love for her children and their love for her binds them together forever.
    I love you, Mother.
