Mother and Dad were married in the old log church at Locust Grove September 2, 1905.  They lived several places in the community as their children were small.  Then they moved to Indiana and Dad worked for the railroad.  Since he worked for them he and his family got to ride the trains.  They would bring all us kids back to visit Grandpa and Grandma Clingenpeel and stay with them a week or 2 at a time.  We'd play with Carl, Paul, and Clarence a lot.  We'd sleep on the floor and talk and giggle.  Our grandma would play with us, she was so much fun.
Then we would visit our grandparets on the McMinn side of the family.  Guess everyone was glad when we all left.
Dad never drove a car, he tried once but bumped into something and wouldn't try again.  They mostly walked when they didn't have anyone to take them.  He would always walk fast, I don't see how Mother kept up with him.
Dad said when he was born his parents called him "Tiny” until he was almost 7 years old.  They then named him Robert Sidney.  He never did  like the name Sidney.
Both of them loved to sing and when Mom got aggravated at Dad she would start singing “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder”.  We knew to stay away.  But they were sweet parents.
