1.  Etha's father was born in New Jersey and her mother was born in Indiana.

Mattheus Leurszen VAN KUYKENDALL "Sr"

1.  Matthew may have been born in Raychester (Rochester), now Accord, New York.

2.  Alternate spelling of name:  Matthew.

3.  He is the only son of Leur who actually went to North Carolina.

4.  Matthew Kuykendall, 300 Acres, Issued April 4, 1751 [Probably should be April 1], Entered September 28, 1750.  Location:  On the south side of Catawba River upon Leepards Creek including Meadow and Piney Bottom, within 2 - 3 miles of John Armstrong Plantation.  April 28, 1750.

5.  Matthew sold his 337 acres of  land in Virginia to Abraham Kuykendall son of Jacob Kuykendall 5/14/1751 [Lot #5 South Branch]  Posted by Karl Hampton.


Janetjen Janse "Jane Westfall" WESTPHALEN

1.  Alternate spelling of name:  Jannetjen Westfall or Westvael.

2.  Jennetje, Sarah, & Maritje were sisters.


Symon "Simon" KUYKENDALL

1.  Alternate date of birth:  24 Jun 1716 in Rochester, Ulster, New York.

2.  Loyalist during Revolutional War...North Carolina records.

3.  He was in Kings Rangers Loyalist in Southern Campaign, Vol. I, page 76 - Muster, Capt. Joseph Smith's Co. King's Rangers, Savannah Ga. 29 Nov 1779:  Nr 32 Private Simeon Kirkendall died 5 Sep 1779.  Note:  Betty Kuykendall Price asks a good question....was this 63 year old man the same Simon, son of Matthew?  Or was he another Simon, son of someone else?

4.  Could the name be Luur Simon Cukingdol, as suggested by Karl Hampton?

Maritje Mary WESTPHAEL

1.  It is likely that this Maritje Mary Westphael was widow of Cornelius and when he died she married his brother Matthew.

2.  It was after Matthew died, that his widow Mary, married Martin Armstrong in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

3.  James D. Kuykendall gives the name of this spouse as Marijte (Mary) Kool.

1.  Alternate spelling of name:  Ary

2.  Arie was slaughtered by Indians.
